Knobs Make Furniture Happy

March 1, 2013 by SmartGirl 2 Comments

I would like to announce that I am no longer a Hobby Lobby virgin.  After hearing about this place all over blogland I decided to check out their website last week and was shocked to find that the store actually existed in NJ.  Not near me or anything, but still, it was there.  I swear I have never heard anyone mention it out loud.  So today after I picked my little ones up from preschool, we took a road trip to Hobby Lobby.  It was a joyous hour-long ride with them watching Horton Hears a Who for the first time.  (I know, it’s like they live under a rock!)

Anyway, despite my son having a royal fit and screaming for the first 15 minutes we were in the store, and the fact that I had to buy M&Ms from the Easter aisle because I felt like I was going to pass out, we had a great time.  I didn’t find any fabric I loved, which I desperately need to reupholster my seriously beat up chairs.  But I did have good luck in the knob aisle.  Well, pretty good luck.  I was disappointed they didn’t keep a larger stock of each knob.  I would have bought new knobs for my kitchen cabinets, but I need 27.  Hobby Lobby had like 5-8 of each.  I got a pirate treasure chest pinata with my coupon and some gold doubloons, because my little guy turns 4 this month.  Oh, and I also picked up some craft paper.  The paper and knobs were 50% off.  (Read about my son’s Jake and the Neverland Pirates Party here.)

I got these side tables from Craigslist, oh, at least 2 years ago.  Both tables for $10.  Great score!  All I had to do was paint them…

I sanded them right away, and brought them inside, but then forgot about them.  In the mean time I lost the knobs.  Doesn’t matter, because I found these.  (The full post on these side tables can be found here.)

I got six of these for my craft room cabinets that have been knobless forever.  They don’t really need knobs, but I always meant to put some there.

Hobby Lobby KnobsThese adorable bicycle knobs I thought would be perfect on my wine cabinet because I already have a bicycle statue thing on top.  (Listen people, I claim to be smart, and I claim to be a DIYer, but I’ve never claimed to have one ounce of design sense.  Just saying.)  I think it looks great.  And it reminds me of way back when, when I used to do the Ironman.

It’s better than before, right?
These two I bought because I like, but don’t know exactly where to use yet.

Oh, last but not least, I got two of these for my 11-year-old because she is obsessed with the “Keep Calm and Carry On” posters.  These days I hate to buy her anything without her being with me, because she tends to hate everything, but I figured we could always spray paint them hot pink to match the pulls on her huge desk.  It’s been missing 2 knobs since I painted the thing.  OMG!  I am such a slacker it’s ridiculous!  I will try to DIY better.  I will try to DIY better.  I will try to DIY better!!!

See ya later!  Tomorrow is my birthday!!!
