I’m Still Alive and Apparently Hungry

July 10, 2013 by SmartGirl 4 Comments

I look forward to summer all year.  I foolishly think it will be laid back.  OMG!  I do so much more running around in the summer than I do during the school year.  I only had 8 drop-off and pickups today!!  Sheesh.  Hubby was away for 10 days, got back July 3.  Then we went to my mom’s house at the beach for a few days.  Now we’re home, and it’s one thing after another.  We’re refinancing our house (instead of moving) and it’s soooo much paperwork.  But I’m done complaining (for now) and just wanted to let you know I am alive.

Oh wait, one more thing… I’ve been having a lot of trouble with my computer freezing up, so I ordered a new one from Costco 10 days ago and I’ve been patiently waiting for it to arrive.  (I only have a BJ’s membership, so I used my brother’s Costco account.  He has memberships to Costco, BJ’s and Sam’s Club.  And he only has two kids, and one is a baby!  He hates when I share personal information about him.  Is that personal?  Don’t tell him, let’s see if he actually reads my blog.)  I’ve been putting off using this computer because it’s such a pain in the butt!  Today I finally logged on to check the status.  The order was cancelled.  No further explanation.  Urrrrrgh! (My brother doesn’t check his email!  Too personal?)

The highlight of my day today… I took the kids to Smoothie King for lunch between pickup/drop-offs and I found the SMOOTHIE OF MY DREAMS!!! Green Tea Tango!!  OMG it’s so good!

It was like eating a giant green tea ice cream, which I L.O.V.E.!  My daughter wanted to drink the whole thing.  She’s definitely getting that next time.  I looked up the ingredients here because I am too cheap to go there every day.  The key ingredient is matcha green tea.  It’s the same stuff used in Starbucks Green Tea Frappuccino®, but I’ve never had one.  I googled matcha and you can buy it a ton of places, including Amazon, but I am going to check out my local Asian market.  I am definitely going to get some ASAP and try making it at home.  We are all about smoothies around here.  One of my other new favorites is this winner from Prevention Magazine — The Smoothie Cure For Gas And Bloating.  LOL!  It’s delicious!

I also learned that matcha is apparently an antioxidant power house.  Bonus!  More info here.  I will add it to my other new super food that’s great for smoothies — chia seeds.  I had never hear of them until I made strawberry jam with all the strawberries from our garden this year.  I totally meant to write a post about it and never did, but at least I have some pictures.    Find out about the health benefits of chia seeds here.  I picked some up at Trader Joe’s after finding this simple jam recipe in Prevention Magazine. It turns out those little black seeds in strawberry jam that you would swear were from strawberries are really chia seeds.  Who knew?!  (And I know not every recipe has them, but this one sure does)

Anyway, that’s it.   I think I’ll go look at computers again at Costco.  WTF?!

Btw – I wish someone paid me to write this post.  No such luck people.

Poo about the Costco computer. I hope you will be able to find one in the store. That green tea drink sounds yummy! I love match green tea, too. *drool* That picture of strawberry jam makes me want to have a toasted PB&J. 😛 You’re daughter is too cute! 🙂
