Pre-Made Labels – Sometimes DIY Isn’t the Answer

October 17, 2013 by SmartGirl 4 Comments

Hip, hip, hooray!  Both my parents have finally started reading my blog.  Yay!  They both visited my Facebook page for the first time too, although neither has liked it yet.  Maybe one of these days.  Anyway, it really is about the little things sometimes and  I want to talk about is my neat little canisters in the kitchen.  I’ve been meaning to put some pretty homemade labels on them forever.  Well, I decided not to reinvent the wheel and I embraced Martha Stewart.  Yeah, not MY inner Martha Stewart.  The real one.  Her and her partnership with Avery labels.

Oh and this project was not on my to do before Halloween list, but it should have been, because this has needed attention for a long time!

I finally re-did my labels, and it took about 10 minutes, a pack ofMartha Stewart Home Office™ with Avery™ Chalkboard Labels (8 for $6.99), and a silver Sharpie.   I should have done this a long time ago!
Even though the labels are chalkboard, I opted against using chalk because it seemed like it’d be messy and rub off easily.  If I change my mind about what’s in there, I can always change the label.  These bad boys peel right off and leave no stickiness.  Unlike the previous labels I had on there.
I had to scrape the goo from the old labels off.
You know what’s funny?  The canisters are Martha Stewart too.  I bought them on clearance at Macy’s years ago.  Here they are in our old house.  Check out the kitchen renovation here.
Anyway, they are looking so much better now.  They make me smile every time I see them.  Aww.  True love.

Thanks! I bought like 6 other varieties too and I’ve been labeling everything with them… water bottles, file bins, photo albums, magazine files. I’ll have to take some more pics. And I keep telling myself they’d be more expensive if I tried to make them on my Silhouette (which is still in the box) or something. You have a great weekend too!!

Thanks! It was definitely one of those things I kicked myself for not doing earlier. The containers are Martha Stewart from Macy’s, but they’re like 7 years old.
