Nothing like a snow storm to dictate your weekly craft. This week at Girl Scouts we made this snowman measuring stick craft out of paint stirrers.
Practice makes perfect, and this time I felt like I was prepared for the snow day. I got all my grocery shopping done yesterday and posted this pic of my trunk on Facebook. The storm was declared a Level 2 Pineapple Storm. Questions arose about the large back of greens, which is spinach, and no, I don’t have any good recipes. We mostly eat it raw.
But, let’s be honest, the real reason I ran to the store was so I could get paint stirrers. Yes, you heard me, paint stirrers. My younger daughter had a Daisy Girl Scout meeting yesterday and as the leader I am in charge of the craft. Not at all shocking, but I decided what to do around 1pm. We all knew school was going to be cancel AGAIN today, so I decided to embrace the impending weather and make snowman measuring sticks. The meeting was at 3:30pm, so I figured I’d save some time and pick up stuff I needed AND the paint stirrers at Walmart. Because who wants to make an extra stop at Lowe’s and drag two little kids out of the car? Not this mom. Good thing I keep a ridiculous amount of craft supplies at my house, because I had everything else I needed.
Supplies Needed for the Snowman Measuring Stick Craft
- paint stirrer
- white paint
- paint brush
- googly eyes
- glue
- foam for hat
- markers
- fleece for hat
- chenille rod for arms
- ruler to mark off inches
I’m pretty sure you can figure out what to do just by looking at the picture, so there’s no need to get into all the details. They were a hit at Girl Scouts and my little Lulu took hers outside today, not so much to measure the snow, but to introduce her to the other snowmen. And then her sister attacked her.
Smart Jr is going to be 12 in two days. I think that means I should decide what kind of cake to make for her birthday. Nah, I’ve got plenty of time. Last year’s basketball cake was very last-minute and that turned out great!
Be sure to pin this so you’ll find it later!
Aww…too cute! Thanks for the craft idea. I am going to do this when we get snow…again. We are in the 50″s and 60″s (Sunday forecast) now, but our biggest snow comes in March and April. We got about 2ft a couple of weeks ago and it got down to -21. Brrrr.
Happy Birthday to Smart Junior! 😀
Oh, I am drooling over that box of greens and pineapples! I want to make a smoothie now. 😉
I’ve been making one every morning. 🙂 I usually just drink them in the summer time, but lately I can’t start my day without a good smoothie!
