First of all, can I get some sympathy for my kids and me because they have 2 full weeks of school left! Yup, they’re not out until June 27. At least the younger ones are out of school at 11:30am everyday, so we spent today at the lake. Well, first I did some weeding, then I took them to the lake. It rained every day last week and while my plants loved the rain, so did the weeds. Boo. I don’t use Roundup or anything, so I’ve been picking, picking, picking weeds. But anyway, here’s what’s new in the edible part of the garden… Grapes and peaches are starting to grow. Smart Jr planted the peach tree in week 4 and today she received her Cadette Trees Badge. Yay!!
The raspberries are beginning to darken up. My little assistant had her first 2 of the season tonight.
I moved the hibiscus hubby got me for Mother’s Day to a flower pot in the backyard. It is loving the pot and looks great, except for the construction going on behind. That’s just me starting to build an outdoor shower. My resident hole digger is away, so we’ll see how much I get done on that.
Hubby did help me finish installing the shade sails this week. They’re finally nice and tight. I should write a whole post on the sails. Let me add it to my list. I better add staining the pergola and deck too. Sigh.
The sails are in the back over the the sand box and partially attached to the swing set.
The lilies are starting to bloom. In my yard the yellow ones come first, now the maroon-ish ones are starting to bloom. So pretty!
It’s always fun for me to take pictures of the front yard from this angle, just to see how far the yard has come. It’s pretty much completely different. By the way, check out how I tried to power wash the side of the house. Um yeah, it worked great for where I could reach, but that was less than half the house. I already got the number of a guy to come do the job right. Now if only I made the time to call.
You can see the yellow lilies in the picture above. You might also be able to see that my allium are still there. I’ve been
threatened asked not to cut them down even though they’re way past their prime. But I guess they still look cool even though they’ve lost all their purple color. Here are a few more views of the front yard.
And here’s the front porch. I so need to get a spigot added to the side of my house, so that darn hose isn’t always sitting right by the entrance. Be sure to check out the posts on the stamped concrete and painted front door (my very first post ever)!
