Summer To-Do List

I’ve been enjoying a relaxing day at home by MYSELF, while hubby is at the beach with the kids. Even though I mostly cleaned the house and did laundry, it was nice to have everything stay clean for a few hours. It’s amazing what you can get done when you’re not breaking up fights every few minutes, making snacks, or chauffeuring people around all day. I purged Lulu’s room, making sure I took everything to the garbage can outside so she won’t see it in the trash. She’ll never even notice anything is gone. It’s such a rookie move when parents throw stuff away in the kitchen trash can. Lol.

So I’m all relaxed until I sit down at the computer and start typing up a list of all the things that need to get done around the house. Not wish list kinds of things, but stuff I’ve got to finish before I lose my freaking mind. It’s mostly stuff I’ve started and haven’t finished. Are you ready for it? Here goes:

Office:

Replace magazine rack with wall sconce
Touch-up wall paint
Raise wall cabinets
Install secret door on cabinet by bed
Add rug from basement
Patch hole in ceiling from electrical work
Make curtains
Replace shelves above/next to door
Paint antique cabinet
Find a place for everything (clear stuff out of garage)
Redo office chairs

Family Room:

Move dimmer switch
Install remaining drywall
Tape and mud
Paint walls
Paint/add hinges to media cabinet
Hang TV
Build built-in bookshelves
Add fireplace surround
Replace flooring
Get new couch

Outside:

Clean/stain Adirondack chairs on porch
Add new spigot to side of house so hose isn’t in front of house!
Power wash whole house (or hire someone to do it)
Find someone to re-seal asphalt
Hang star
Finish building outdoor shower
Add plumbing for shower
Stain shower
Stain deck/pergola
Add outlet for pool (hire someone)
Replace sliders with French doors
Organize shed
Replace wood on porch ceiling
Stain porch ceiling
Paint side table/drawers on porch
Replace boards on steps down to play area
Add new wood chips
Finish painting kids’ play house
Build benches/banquets on back porch
Decorate back porch
Add 2nd zipline
Get rid of leftover swing set pieces
Finish irrigation system

Garage:

Attach center pallet wall
Organize shelf above bikes
Find system to collect saw dust
Get rid of crap
Find place for every tool

Basement:

Get rid of crap
Add pictures to staircase walls
Add TV
Bring shelves from family room downstairs
Add permanent lighting for under stair nook
Bring Legos downstairs?
Add one more recessed light
Finish installing ceiling panels

Upstairs:

Remove spindles and install hardwood in hallway
Paint and replace spindles
Build organizer for hall closet
Finish surf fin hooks
Finish pyrography piece for surf shack room

Gee, now I know why I’m so stressed out all the time. That’s a lot of stuff! I’ll keep you updated on how it’s going. And then when all that’s done I have a fall/winter list. At least I’ll never run out of blog posts. Hehe.

Build loft bed for Lulu
Build treehouse
Close off window to master bedroom
Add wall/door to master bedroom nook
Install hardwood in master
Replace tub/tile/flooring in kids bathroom
Replace base molding in living room and dining room
Move mom’s piano to our house
Repaint dining room
Redo entire kitchen
