We just got back from what seems like forever in Disney World and it’s nice to see the garden has been taking pretty good care of itself while we were gone. Even the potted plants were okay. The Black-Eyed Susans are in bloom and the sedum is growing like crazy. Check out the 3rd picture in this post to see how tiny the sedum were when I separated and planted them just last summer.Last month I was able to transplant some of the seedlings that were growing in the gravel between the Belgian blocks and driveway. They didn’t all make it, but this group is doing really well. The hardy hibiscus started blooming while we were away too.I’ve got 3 different colors (white, light pink and dark pink) right near the road for everyone to enjoy. And it looks like there are many more blooms on the way. Some plants were doing too well. This lambs ear needs a serious trimming, which the bees won’t be happy about.Even crazier than that is the kiwi vines. They looked like this a month ago and I trimmed them back down to the lattice and now they are crazy again. I think this fall I’m going to rip all three kiwi plants out and find a new vine. These have been a big disappointment. We waited patiently for 2 years for them to flower and grow fruit, but this is now the 4th summer and we’ve never seen so much as a bud. I’m over it. I’ll find a flowering vine for next year. And finally, there were even a few vegetables waiting for us. Yay!
