Hey there!  Are you new here?  Thanks for visiting!  I am not the most consistent person when it comes to my blog posts, but you can always keep up with me and my latest shenanigans on Facebook or Instagram.  Better yet, you should sign up to receive emails from me whenever I do post.  (Psst… it’s okay if you’re a dude, you can follow along too, I don’t discriminate… smart girls, dumb guys, whatever)

This is Me

I’m a wife and mama.   A redhead.  A procrastinator.  I can’t spell to save my life.  I think I have adult ADHD.  I LOVE turquoise.  Even though I can never spell it.  I over-schedule my kids.  I take on too many commitments.  I don’t eat meat.  I’m cheap.  I like to be outdoors, but not when it’s cold.  I love Gilmore Girls, especially now that I can watch it with my first-born.  I suck at doing makeup or hair.  I have terrible eyelashes.  And eyebrows too.  But the lashes bother me more.

I am snarky and can be rather pessimistic.  I tell it like it is and I put it all out there.  You will always get the real me.  I don’t mean to be mean I just kind of have a natural ability to offend people every once in a while.  I’m just trying to let you know up front.  I’m super excited you’re here reading this, so fingers crossed, maybe it won’t be so noticeable in written form.  Maybe the backspace and delete buttons will take care of some of that.  I’m just throwing it out there as a warning.  I am also shockingly insecure for someone with such a big mouth.  I have a couple good panic attacks a year, gas stations are a big trigger for me.Snart Girls DIY - sanding a ceiling

I grew up in Manhattan.  But people always think I’m from California because I guess I sound like a valley girl.  I lived in an apartment and we never had a car because we didn’t need one.  My kids think that’s so weird.  Now I live in the suburbs and drive carpool and have play dates.  I’m a big fan of the beach.  But I like to sit in the shade.  I like to travel.  I think I’m up to 26 countries now.   I’ve completed the Ironman Triathlon.  Twice.  I even participated in Ironman South Africa.  But that was all before I had kids.  If you don’t know  — the Ironman is a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and 26.2 mile run.  Now I only run around Home Depot.  And I teach a Spin class once a week.  It takes me forever to prepare a playlist because I’m worse with music than I am with spelling.  But I get a free gym membership and I’m forced to work out once a week, so that’s good.Half-Ironman distance triathlon

My Family

I met my husband Lars in college.  In a Water Safety Instructor course.  We went to Rutgers.  It’s the state university of New Jersey.  I was an Exercise Science major.  We didn’t date in college, or for about 8 years after that.  You can check out pictures of our wedding here and here.  Hubby sometimes helps with my ongoing projects, but let’s be clear — I am the DIY mastermind.  Liz and Lars Hawaii 2001

We have 3 kids (born 2002, 2007, 2009).  I love when they help with my DIY projects, but I don’t let any of them paint the house.  Well maybe my husband, but only ceilings, because I HATE PAINTING CEILINGS!  My husband is awesome for putting up with all my DIY shenanigans. The kids call me mama.  We are not from the south.  We love to snuggle.  The little ones are now in school “full day” so I have gone back to teaching.  I took 9 years off!  I didn’t plan to be out for that long, but things happen.  I now teach at an elementary school part-time and I greatful to be back at it.  I’m super lucky that I can still drop my kids off and pick them up from school.  Unfortunately, there is less and less time for my DIY projects.  🙁

I have one sibling.  A brother who is two years older.  He loves to read my blog.  He also loves to call me from Home Depot on a Saturday morning and ask me to explain to him how to tile his bathroom floor and give him a list of everything he needs to buy.  True story.  But he is my best student and his bathroom turned out fabulously.

Am I actually smart?

The jury is still out on this one!  I went to a nerdy HS in NYC.  Skipped senior year to go to college for engineering, but changed my major four times.  I still managed to graduate on time.  A few days after graduation I went to grad school.  I received an MBA in Marketing when I was 22.  I immediately became a personal trainer.  After dabbling in a few different fields, I became a teacher.  I went back to school and got an EdM in Mathematics Education.  A year later, I stopped teaching.  My husband is definitely more “book smart” than me.  I’m more common sense smart.  Waaaay more common sense smart.

I did already mention that I can’t spell to save my life.  Case in point.  Too bad I didn’t realize I spelled Chevron wrong until this picture was pinned 48 times in 30 minutes.  Sheesh!  What’s wrong with me?  Actually, I might just be part British because I was just on Wikipedia and it says cheveron is another way to spell chevron.  And you know if it’s on Wikipedia it has to be true.  I guess I shouldn’t have deleted the pin.  Oops.
